Moving To Paradise Nevada: Convenience Of Living Near UNLV

If you’re planning on moving to Paradise Nevada, and living near UNLV, it makes it a convenient option for students and anyone who wants to minimize commute time to campus, or the resort corridor for that matter.

Paradise is actually considered an unincorporated Clark County township rather than part of the City of Las Vegas. Although most people just call it Las Vegas since it holds so much of what the city is known for.

Because Paradise contains such a large portion of the central valley, its location can be particularly useful for people whose daily lives revolve around UNLV, the Strip, the airport, or businesses along the major east side corridors. Instead of commuting into the center of the valley from one of the outer communities, residents can already be positioned in close proximity to many of the places that generate a significant amount of the area’s employment, education, entertainment, and activity.

The unusual thing about Paradise is that someone can have a Las Vegas mailing address and live minutes from some of the most recognizable destinations in Las Vegas while technically living outside the incorporated City of Las Vegas. For someone relocating from another state, that distinction can be confusing at first because the boundaries are not necessarily obvious when you are driving through the area. What feels like one continuous city is actually made up of different jurisdictions and communities throughout the valley.

That central location also gives Paradise a very different residential character from communities on the outer edges of the valley. Rather than being defined primarily by large master planned developments, the area contains a mixture of established residential neighborhoods, apartment communities, student oriented housing, condominiums, commercial corridors, and properties influenced by their proximity to the resort district and UNLV.

What to Expect When Moving To Paradise Nevada

Housing skews toward apartments and rentals geared toward students near campus. It has the pace and noise level of the Strip nearby, so this is one of the many things to take into consideration. Housing throughout Paradise can vary considerably depending on the area, with everything from older apartment communities and condos, as well as established residential neighborhoods and properties located close to major resorts and commercial corridors. The closer you get to the Strip and other heavily traveled areas, the more traffic, visitors, entertainment activity, and around the clock movement can become part of everyday life.

It’s also less suburban and more urban than most of the valley, and it’s generally one of the larger population centers in the state, even though it isn’t its own incorporated city. Because Paradise covers a substantial area, not every part of it feels like living directly beside the Strip. Some residential pockets are removed from the busiest tourist areas and can feel considerably different from the resort corridor. This makes the specific neighborhood and even the particular street worth considering when deciding whether Paradise fits the type of Las Vegas lifestyle you want.

When moving near the Strip, there are many things to factor in. Keep in mind that living in Las Vegas is not always the same as it is when you come here to vacation. Although it can be a great option for students with the convenience of having the campus close by, you will want to take everything else into consideration when planning your move.

Proximity to UNLV, employment centers, restaurants, shopping, entertainment, Harry Reid International Airport, and major transportation routes can make the area extremely convenient. At the same time, traffic patterns, major events, tourism, aircraft activity in some locations, and the amount of activity surrounding nearby commercial areas can all affect day to day living. For someone moving near the Strip, choosing the right location within the area can therefore matter just as much as choosing Paradise itself.

Housing In Paradise Nevada Neighborhoods

Among the Las Vegas Strip neighborhoods, Paradise isn’t one uniform area. Paradise Palms is a well known neighborhood in and of itself that’s popular with buyers who like its mid century modern architecture.

Alternatively, the Las Vegas Country Club area offers a more gated, upscale option, and the University District around Maryland Parkway is where you’ll find most of the student housing and rentals. It’s also within walking or biking distance of the UNLV campus.

Closer to the Strip housing shifts toward condos and taller buildings that are geared more toward visitors and investors rather than long term residents.

Getting Around Paradise Nevada

Paradise’s biggest advantage is location. Harry Reid International Airport sits inside its boundaries, along with major corridors like Maryland Parkway, Tropicana Avenue, Flamingo Road, and Eastern Avenue. Therefore, getting to most of the rest of the valley is generally quicker from here than from the outer suburb areas. The tradeoff is traffic and noise near the Strip and airport, which is worth experiencing at different times of day before committing to an address.
