Relocating to Las Vegas: Military Guide

PCS orders to Nellis Air Force Base or Creech Air Force Base bring you to one of the fastest-growing metro areas in the country. This guide covers what matters most for a military move: base proximity, housing near post, schools, and the support network already here for service members and their families.

Living Near Nellis AFB

Nellis sits on the north side of the valley, close to North Las Vegas and parts of Centennial Hills. Families who want the shortest commute typically look here first, though many service members choose to live farther out in Summerlin or Henderson and accept a longer drive in exchange for newer housing stock and highly rated schools.

Housing and BAH

Las Vegas offers a wide range of rental and purchase options across every BAH bracket. On-base housing exists but has a waitlist for many family sizes, so most incoming families plan for off-base housing from the start.

Local Support for Military Families

Between spouse networks, base family readiness programs, and a strong local veteran community, new arrivals typically find their footing faster than they expect. We’ll be expanding this section with direct links and contacts as the guide grows.
